An Uphill Journey - Attempting the Mobi 100 Jackpot ⛰️🏃

Over the next few days, I’ll be stepping into something that feels both exciting and a little overwhelming: an attempt at the Mobi 100 Jackpot.

This challenge is part of the 442.run series and involves completing 100 ascents of the Biel–Magglingen funicular route—adding up to 44’200 meters of elevation gain in 29 days. It’s not a race in the traditional sense, but it is certainly a test of what the body and mind can endure over time. There’s a CHF 1’000.- jackpot on the line, for the first person to complete the full 100 ascents. But to be honest, that’s not what’s motivating me. This isn’t about being the first or the fastest-it’s about exploring my own limits in a setting that’s both familiar and, somehow, entirely new when seen 100 times over.

I don’t know yet how far I’ll get. I’ve trained, yes, but this isn’t something you can fully prepare for. Repeating the same climb, again and again, will no doubt bring out unexpected challenges—physical fatigue, mental lows, maybe even a few existential questions… like why I didn’t just sign up for a pottery class and call it character growth.

What I do know is that I’m curious. Curious to see how I respond, curious what I’ll learn, and curious where the experience might take me—even if it’s not all the way to 100.

And if this sort of quiet, stubborn adventure speaks to you, I recommend checking out my Strava:
